The Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum is a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As a non-profit,
the museum depends on donations from donors
like you to support our mission "...to promote
education to visitors of all ages and backgrounds
about Amelia Earhart’s life and legacy through its
historic grounds, collection, activities, and events."

Donating a Personal Item:

The Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum thanks you for considering our institution to house your donated item. Please know that while we appreciate every donation offer, the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum does not have the space or means to accept every item. To ensure the best chance of your item finding a place here, please refer to our guidelines below.

Due to the limited space in the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum’s collection space, all items donated to the museum must be approved.

The AEBM is currently not accepting newspapers or newspaper clippings, First Day Covers, or stamps.
The AEBM will not accept any items donated as a mail-in or drop-off donation without prior approval. Unsolicited donations will be returned to the sender.
The AEBM will not accept any items with restrictions (i.e. a request to always keep an item on display).
The AEBM staff will not provide item appraisal. If you require a personal item appraisal, it needs to be completed before donation by a licensed appraiser.
The AEBM cannot guarantee that every donated item will be placed on display. Even when items are not on display, they are used for research purposes and are kept in a controlled collection environment.

Many item donations are tax deductible. The AEBM staff are legally not allowed to designate what donated items are tax deductible. For more information, please see the IRS guidelines on deductions.

All donations are taken into consideration. Because of this, please allow 1-2 months for our team to process each request. If your item is selected for possible donation, you will be contacted via email to provide additional information.
